In the Golden Hour, Vermont Watercolor Society Exhibit
The Chaffee Art Center, Your Center for Creativity, invites the community to the opening of our new Exhibit Friday, Sept. 11, 5–7pm. Stop by this free event and enjoy “In the Golden Hour” themed mocktails and nibbles while you explore the galleries and mansion.
This exhibit will feature The Vermont Watercolor Society’s annual Fall Awards Show “In the Golden Hour” in our downstairs galleries. VWS will host the Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony.
Forty VWS artists from all over the Northeast have been selected for this juried exhibition; works range across a variety of genres, exploring different stylistic approaches and techniques in watermedia. Many actively exhibit throughout Vermont and New England and several exhibit at the national level. This year’s VWS Fall Awards Show is a colorful display of paintings in response to the theme, In the Golden Hour; works were thoughtfully selected by Juror Thomas W. Schaller, who will also select the award recipients. Mr. Schaller is an internationally known, award-winning watercolor artist whose work is collected world-wide and is part of a number of permanent museum collections. Exhibit on display until Oct. 30. Chaffee artist members’ works will also be on display and for sale throughout the mansion, as well as in the Gallery Shoppe that is filled with affordable handmade treasures and gift ideas for any occasion.
Be sure to take time to explore the architecture and history of our 1890s Queen Anne Victorian Mansion. Plan to meet a friend and cozy up in one of our many seating areas. Free Wi-Fi available. Plus, don’t forget to check out our 100-foot Pollinator Garden with native plantings, growing Sculpture Garden, and over a dozen gardens on the property.
While here, picture your next event, bridal shower, wedding, birthday, meeting, or retreat being held in our beautiful mansion, fondly known by its first owners as Sunny Gables. Hours: Thursday-Friday 10am–5pm; Saturday 10am–3pm. Private appointments available by request.
