65th Annual Art in the Park Summer Festival August 8 & 9

Chaffee Art Center’s 65th Annual Art in the Park Summer Festival will take place Aug. 8 & 9 in Rutland’s Main Street Park at the Junction of Routes 4 & 7.  Juried fine artists, craftspeople, and specialty food producers will be featured.  Rounding out the festival are food vendors, live music, free kids’ activities, and demonstrations of works in progress held throughout the weekend. Hours: Saturday 10am–5pm and Sunday 10am–4pm. A voluntary donation is appreciated.

We invite everyone to visit this fun event. Attendees will enjoy the variety of unique handcrafts and fine art that will be on exhibit and available for purchase at the outdoor festival. The visual arts are represented by a selection of oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, pen & ink, gouache, mixed media, and photographs. A full array of crafts will be featured: pottery mugs, vases, planters; fiber items such as hand dyed and screen printed clothing, quilted items, reversible tote bags, purses, totes, wallets, hats, yoga mats; stained glass, sun-catchers, ornaments, mobiles; large variety of jewelry; copper & stainless steel garden art; wooden furniture, bowls, cutting boards, ornaments, door harps, puzzles; soy candles; stone hair accessories & wearables, herbal teas, CBD Wellness products (chocolates, dog biscuits, lotions) and more! Lots of family fun with facepainting and kids activities. Plus, the New England Dairy Bar will be giving away samples of milk in various flavors on Sunday.

Food concessions will be selling their delicious food both days to include the Rollin’ Rooster Food Truck and Mary’s Kitchen. For the sweet tooth, there will be specialty chocolates and items from Yellow Deli Bakery. Enjoy delicious Green Mountain Kettle Corn. Plus, Rez Me Energy drinks with both energy and non-caffeinated.

Live music will be performed all day on Saturday and Sunday featuring Mr. Moose & Friends, Bethany Conner, Allison Fay Brown, Marcos Levy and Breanna Elaine.  Back again this year are Chaffee Bucks that will be given away randomly at the gates throughout both days.  Winners can spend the Chaffee Bucks during the festival weekend at any booth in the park.

VOLUNTEERS are needed for set-up on Friday and tear down on Sunday at 4pm. Also, gate greeters for Saturday and Sunday. Please send an email to [email protected] or call 802.775.0356.

Art in the Park is Vermont’s oldest continuing arts tradition, and the Chaffee Art Center’s major fund-raising event, occurring twice yearly in mid-summer and autumn. Sponsors to date include: Stewart’s Shops, Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Stop in during open hours and explore “Reimagined III: The Art of Recycling.”  Chaffee artist members have work on display and for sale throughout the mansion, as well as in the Gallery Shoppe that is filled with handmade treasures and gift ideas for any occasion.
