Fantasy Creatures

Dates: June 24–28
Time: 9am–12pm
Ages: 6–12
Cost: $140
Create fantasy creatures as we travel to different cultures and experience their stories.

The Art of Nature

Dates: June 24–28
Time: 1–4pm
Ages: 6–12
Cost: $140
Explore the Art of Nature using natural elements such as rocks to create sculptures, collages and to use for mandala painting, plus, some fun surprises!

Fun with Music 3-Day Camp

Dates: July 1, 2 & 3
Time: 9am–1pm
Ages: 6–12
Cost: $115
Campers will learn how to have fun with music using games and instruments as they develop their musical skills.

Adventure Camp

Dates: July 8–12
Time: 9am–12pm
Ages: 6-12
Cost:  $140
Each day campers will explore a theme through yoga, play, activities and mindfulness. They will have fun learning ways to be adventuresome, and also how to relax and be present.

Campers will use clay, wood, mixed textiles, paint & papier-maché to create Sculpture art and more! They will also use other mediums to tell a story about their creations.

Intro to Music Camp I

Discover your passion for music! Campers will develop skills as they experience the world of music with games, singing, and more!

Song Writing & Music Production Camp I

Dates: July 15–19

A camp all about creating music!  Learn how to write a song and then how to produce it. Campers will have fun working with the program “Sound Trap”

Fun with Food 2-day Camp

Dates: July 29 and July 30
Time: 9am–12pm
Ages: 8–12
Cost: $140
Campers will learn to make dough and turn it into poptarts in their favorite flavor, as well as how to make crepes. Chef Lisa is a licensed teacher and will instruct on food prep techniques and kitchen safety. Location: Chaffee Art Center

Musical Theater — ALL DAY CAMP — FULL

Dates: July 29–Aug. 2
Time: 9am–4pm (hour break for lunch)
Ages: 6–12

The world’s a stage and there’s music playing! Campers will explore the world of theater through a musical lens, working with dance and singing to create characters and hone performance skills. This camp ends with a showcase where campers will present a musical performance for friends and family. .

Teen Summer Workshops (11+)

Teen Beaded Bracelet Making

Saturday, July 20
12–1:30pm

Min: 5
Attendees will make a beaded bracelet. Choose from a variety of textures, sizes and colors of beads. Learn how to decide on a pattern … and then create your bracelet!

Abstract Expressionist Sculptural Painting Class — 2 sessions

Tuesdays, July 23 & 30
5:30–7pm
Ages: Teens 13+ and Adults 
Min 5, max 10
$50 per person

Have you ever wanted to create a 3-D painting? Here is your chance! Have fun designing your own 11×14 sculptural painting. During the first session, attendees will draw designs, cut away areas on a doubled-up canvas and add wire and plaster bandage to create shape, form, and structure. Then participants will add joint compound to create texture. During the second session the following week, attendees will choose a color scheme to convey emotion and paint their pieces.

Terrarium Building Class (Fairy or Fantasy Garden)

Saturday, July 27
11am–1pm
Ages: Teens 13+ and Adults … (Note: Children ages 8–12 may attend if accompanied by an adult who will help with each step)
Min 4, Max 6.
Instructor: Chrystal Bean
$40 per person

Learn how to make your very own glass terrarium! Attendees will be guided step-by-step to create their own unique  design, and complete it with choice of four slow-growing miniature terrarium plants and moss, all planted in an 8″x6″ flat bottom round terrarium. Plus, add your own tiny landscape using accent pieces including aquarium wood, rocks, slate path, and a glow-in-the-dark resin Kodama figurine (Japanese tree spirit). Enjoy your terrarium for years to come!

TEEN DRAWING 4-WEEK SESSIONS

Payments and Refunds

  • Checks payable to: Chaffee Art Center, 16 South Main Street, Rutland VT 05701 / [email protected]
  • Full payment is required to secure your space in camps/classes. There are minimum and maximum enrollment limits, so be sure to register quickly to ensure your place. Students will be notified if a camp/class is to be canceled due to low registration at least a week in advance and will be refunded in full.
  • Effective April 22, 2024 — Refund requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the camp/class. An administration fee of 50% (plus credit card fees if applicable) of the camp/class price is non-refundable. After the two-week window, a partial camp/class credit may be processed at the discretion of the Chaffee Executive Director. Camp/class credits are non-refundable.
