January Exhibit — Through Different Eyes: Perspectives on Art

The Chaffee Art Center, Your Center for Creativity, invites the community to the opening of our new Exhibit “Through Different Eyes: Perspectives on Art” & Annual Photo Contest Friday, Jan. 23, 5–7pm. Stop by this free event and enjoy a glass of wine and nibbles.
This exhibit features multiple interconnected installations with the same theme, “Through Different Eyes: Perspectives on Art”:
Chaffee Artist Members — works will be on display with their “covered” written perspective next to each piece.
After viewers look at the artwork, they can uncover and read what the artist’s perspective is.
8 Over 80 — works will showcase artists age of 80+ and perspectives from this generation of artist members.
Finding Hope Within — features art that has emerged through the carceral system in Vermont. The work featured in this exhibition includes drawings, mixed media, poetry and narrative writing by incarcerated artists at Vermont correctional facilities.
Annual Photo Contest — This year’s contest has a different twist. Photos must feature the Chaffee Art Center, such as the Mansion, door knobs, fireplaces, distinctive features, both inside and outside. Visitors will vote on submissions, and cards will be made from the winning photos. Deadline to submit photos is Jan. 16.
Chaffee artist members’ works will also be on display and for sale in the Gallery Shoppe that is filled with handmade treasures and gift ideas for any occasion. Be sure to take time to explore the 1890’s architecture and history.
Exhibit will be on display until Feb. 27.
Plan to visit the Chaffee to experience the beauty of the 1890’s Queen Anne Victorian Mansion and the wonderful works of art throughout, plus our Gallery Shoppe with old-fashioned candy!
