A Bit of the Chaffee at RRMC

The Chaffee Art Center and @rrmcvt are collaborating to bring beautiful and inspiring artwork to the hallway leading to their cafeteria. The art will be changed periodically and feature a Chaffee Artist Member.
This display highlights Evie Towsley and her nostalgic look at Vermont landscapes.
All the artwork is for sale, if interested contact [email protected] or 802-775-0356.
Thank you to Kevin and Dan for helping hang the pieces, and to Erin for coordinating this project!
ABOUT EVIE TOWSLEY
Vermont … out of all places, fits me best. I love the green mountains and pastoral scenes as well as the small hamlets. I like the laid-back serenity.
In junior high, Mr. Gallo (art teacher) and Mr. Weirsbicki (homeroom teacher) encouraged me … they took a painting of a galleon ship that I had done in tempera and put it in a student show. I still have it as my mom had said to keep it as it was my first.
I took a class with Robert Frick in my early 30s I did Chaffee Art Center’s Art in the Park for a few years … my medium being oils. After many years of taking a break, I started painting with acrylics while volunteering at Timco gallery as I was inspired … my fellow artists were very encouraging. In 2009, I took a colored pencil class with Myrna Austin at Fletcher Farms in Ludlow … it was a great experience. A couple of years later I did a follow-up class with Josephine Habeski at the Chaffee.
I had one mentor who helped and guided me in composition and color, and I will always be forever grateful for his patience and kindness … watercolor artist, Stan Strusinski.
Most paintings I do are pastoral. I am a believer in the farmers and trappers that made Vermont a great state. Personally, I am saddened when we lose a farm. Therefore, it’s a small way for me to show the love of the land, animals and the hard working folks that stand for what Vermont really is. I have done countless paintings for folks who want to preserve memories.
I will try to paint almost anything at least once.
